Young ladies dancing at the Greek Festival

Ocala’s Annual Greek Festival is in its final day tomorrow, Sun Feb 6, in the new digs of the Greek Orthodox Mission Church in Belleview, and wow, what a big place.  Despite the dreary weather I took the family down to enjoy the party – bouzoki music, dancing (we watched), and that delicious Greek home cooking that draws the crowds from several surrounding counties.

The bakery was extremely busy, always a line, and after I waited in line for the second time to pile up goodies to take home, I came back to the table to find a lady with a dessert cart selling pastries to passerby. Of course, we had to buy some more.

The festivities continue tomorrow from 12 noon to 6 PM, and includes a wide variety of vendors and some kiddie rides as well. Head on down and stock up for Super Bowl Sunday while you have fresh gyros, moussaka, pastitio, and roasted chicken ready for the taking. Don’t miss this cultural feast!
